Kenton High School’s back two hallways, known as B & C buildings, will be abated and demolished. The footprint that it leaves will be left as green space for development later by the district. The potential exists for that space to be developed by the school, but there are no plans to sell that tract of land. The “A” building will be converted into offices for the district administration and board of education. The Gymnasium will be maintained as a middle school competition space.
Kenton Middle School
Kenton Middle School will be abated and demolished. The land will continue to be owned by the school district, but the use for that location is yet to be finalized.
The Oaklief building will be abated and demolished, and the land will be sold if there is a market or will be converted to green space.
Ohio Facility Construction Commission policy requires that the Northwood building remains for one year after the new school is constructed. Plans for the Northwood location will be developed at a later date.
Practice athletic fields may be constructed at the new site. However, all competition fields will remain at their current location for the time being. In partnership with the Kenton Athletic Boosters, a locker room facility for both teams and officials will be constructed at Robinson Field due to the absence of the current KMS locker rooms.
